Any culture needs nutrients. Some have this need more, others less, so in order not to harm the plant, you need to know when and how many nutrients you need to bring to the ground. The article will discuss the nutrition of juniper.
How can I feed juniper
At different times of the year, the shrub needs different nutrients:
- in spring he needs nitrogen to wake up after hibernation;
- in summer copper, manganese, phosphorus, potassium, zinc, iron are needed to saturate needles with color and strengthen immunity;
- in the fall there is an increasing need for complexes with a low nitrogen concentration to slow the growth of young shoots and increase resistance to frost.
Organics
It is allowed to be used during landing, at the stage of preparing the pit. A mixture of peat, turf, humus in an equal ratio is poured into the hole. This composition can nourish a young plant throughout the growing season. It is not advisable to use mullein and bird droppings. They negatively affect the roots: they can leave burns on them.
Important! Any organic matter must be applied in liquid form, since in dry form it absorbs longer and loses part of its properties under the influence of sunlight.
Manure in any form is suitable for fertilizer only in spring, as it contains a lot of nitrogen, and it stimulates the growth of green mass, which is not very necessary for coniferous plants. Evergreens for awakening after winter prefer nutrient mixtures based on biohumus. Mixed with water, it is well absorbed by the root system and quickly spreads throughout the plant.
Minerals
The lack of minerals can be filled with nitroammofoski. It is laid in the soil at the stage of planting a seedling. For one bush, 200-300 g of funds are needed. This dose will be enough until next year. Then you will need to make every spring 40 g per bush. In the autumn, conifers have an acute need for magnesium. This is manifested by yellowing of the apex. The element must be brought in before the onset of cold weather (30–40 g per plant).
Did you know? For a day, one hectare of juniper produces 30 kg of volatile production. This amount is enough to purify the air in a large city from pathogens.
Complexes
Special complexes will not only enrich the shrub with the necessary substances, but also protect it from diseases and pests:
- "Needle" - for spring and summer top dressing. Contains 13% nitrogen. It must be used during the period of active vegetation (20 g / 20 l of water).
- Kemira - for preplant feeding. The tool improves the quality of the soil and saturates the plant with the necessary elements during the growing season. Up to 40 g of the product and up to 60 g per bush with seasonal application are needed in the planting pit.
- Green Needle - magnesium and sulfur-containing complex. It takes care of the rich color of the needles. Fertilize the yellowed shrub you need 50 g per plant.
Fertilizing Juniper
Young juniper needs annual recharge. Fertilizing under the bush can be from the second year of his life in a permanent place in the open ground. For older, stronger plants, just one feeding in 2-3 years is enough.
After landing
Young animals should be fed immediately after planting only if there is poor soil in the area. Then, to support active growth, you need to make nutrients all season. The shrub should be fertilized for the first time one month after planting. Subsequent - with an interval of 3-4 weeks. It is necessary to use complex fertilizers for conifers according to the instructions.

For fast growth
Juniper, like all conifers, lives for a long time, so its growth is not fast. But it is possible to make the young seedling more actively grow (the rooting process is faster). For this, growth stimulants are intended. The drug of universal action "Radifarm" is considered effective.. A young bush needs 300-500 ml of the solution obtained after combining 10 l of water with 25 ml of the drug. After two weeks, the same amount of funds must be paid again. To enhance the development of the root system, “Viva” is suitable (use according to the instructions).
Important! These two products in combination provide 100% survival of the plant.
You can use foliar application of growth stimulants. Among suitable preparations, a group of chelates (organometallic complexes) is in demand. They not only accelerate the rooting process, but also saturate the shrub with necessary nutrients. Feeding should be carried out with an interval of two weeks until the end of August, inclusive. You need to use 20 g of the drug diluted in 10 liters of water.
Proper care is the key to intensive growth of juniper. And this is not only timely top dressing, but also a number of other measures to ensure comfortable conditions for the growth of decorative culture.
