On the territory of the Carpathian lands of Ukraine, an invasion of red Spanish slugs was recorded. Gardeners in the Ivano-Frankivsk region are especially affected by pests.
This information was shared with the public by Galina Danilyuk, who heads the department of phytosanitary diagnostics, forecasts and risk assessment at the State Consumer Service of Ivano-Frankivsk Region.
She also noted that the main victims of the Spanish slugs are the agrarians of such regions of the region as: Tysmenitsky, Kolomyysky and Ivano-Frankivsk.
It is important to note that Spanish red slugs are hermaphrodites. Therefore, they demonstrate the wonders of rapid reproduction and distribution throughout the territories. At one time, the slug can lay about five hundred eggs.

The eggs tolerate winter frosts perfectly, and hatch by the beginning of summer and immediately begin to eat all the plant crops that they see on their way.
Two months after its birth, young red Spanish slugs enter puberty and begin to multiply vigorously. By the end of August, the peak of their wrecking activity sets in.
Experts recommend that farmers dig their land, given that slug eggs are buried at a depth of not more than ten centimeters. Collect slugs by hand, and also make sure that there are no construction or other debris in the gardens that can serve as an excellent shelter for slugs.
