In 2018, employees of the Rosselkhoznadzor of the Kaluga Region identified and destroyed more than two hundred tons of products whose sale is prohibited on the territory of the Russian Federation by certain sanctions.

“Most often, we identified vegetables, fruits, and other gastronomy that were banned for sale, which illegally entered the Russian Federation from EU countries. There are state-level restrictions prohibiting the sale of food products from EU countries, but unscrupulous market participants often neglect the terms of the official ban. Many of them are left with nothing when we identify prohibited products from them, seize illegal goods and destroy them, ”the Rosselkhoznadzor employees explain.

According to experts, cheese and sausage, arriving in large quantities from sanctions countries, are destroyed in whole lots, the volumes of which sometimes reach tens of tons per month.

It is important to note that merchants who sell sanctioned goods run the risk of losing not only their illegal assortment, but also pay a huge fine for their illegal activities.
