Fane Valley, a Northern Ireland agribusiness cooperative limited liability company, bought Silver Hill Foods from an Irish duck producer.
Silver Hill Foods, based in Monaghan County, produces premium ducks, primarily for export markets in the UK, EU and Asia, and is a long-standing supplier to Asian restaurants in the UK. In recent years, she has sought to diversify her export markets, especially in Southeast Asia.
The company said the deal was good news for its employees, especially due to the increasing uncertainty about Brexit. Fane Valley said the deal was part of its strategy for investing in food companies with high growth potential.Silver Hill Foods is a cross-border company - its main processing plant is located in Emival, Ireland, and its farms are located in Northern Ireland. It is clear that Fane Valley estimated that Brexit poses risks to the business, and concluded that there are enough contingency plans situations. And some of them are Silver Hill Foods' increased focus on markets outside the UK, which are hoped to double business size in the next five years.
