The data of the State Statistics Service of Ukraine show that, compared with indicators for the same date in 2018, sunflower stocks in the country increased. t, the State Statistics Service said in a statement.

161.4 thousand were stored in the agricultural enterprises of Ukraine. 1506.4 thousand tons of sunflower were concentrated in the hands of enterprises engaged in storage and processing.

For comparison, according to the State Statistics Service of Ukraine as of May 1, 2018, sunflower stocks in the country were at the level of 2652.7 thousand tons. According to previous data, as of March 1 of this year, sunflower stocks in Ukraine were 4897.5 thousand tons

Earlier it was reported that the agrarians of the Kherson region plan to increase the area under sunflower up to 350 thousand hectares, since this crop is considered to be stably profitable in the region.

For comparison, in 2018, Kherson farmers planted 337 thousand ha with this crop. In 2019, irrigated sunflower fields will be about 46 thousand hectares, even despite the rise in price of water for irrigation.

It is noteworthy that the acreage under sunflower has been constantly growing for several decades. A tendency to increase the area under sunflower has been observed for several decades. If in 1995 this crop occupied 141.9 thousand hectares, now its sown area has expanded by another 200 thousand hectares, according to the head statistics department of the Kherson region.
