As of March 13 this year, 14 regions of Ukraine are sowing early spring leguminous and cereal crops. hectares, that is 11% of the projected 2.3 million hectares, the press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food shares.
The sowing campaign has not yet captured the North and East of the country, since the weather there still does not allow to go into the fields. The farmers in these regions are waiting for suitable weather conditions to get started.
Already sown with barley - 117 thousand ha or 11%, wheat - 10 thousand ha or 6%, oats - 5 thousand ha or 2%, peas - 67 thousand ha or 19%. This year, the sowing campaign began extremely early . Usually, farmers go to the fields in April. Favorable weather allowed sowing early spring months earlier. Today, farmers have all the resources to plant crops at the best time, observing all the requirements of the technology, said Vladimir Topchy, Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food.
Monitoring of the regions showed 100% supply of agrarians with seed. Now 684 thousand tons of seeds are concentrated in their hands. The farmers were provided with mineral fertilizers by 82%, which amounts to 856 thousand tons. Agricultural enterprises purchased 20.4 thousand tons of plant protection products, which amounted to 67% of the declared need for them. This number includes 13.4 thousand tons of herbicides or 67 thousand tons. The level of fuel supply is 64-65% of the need for diesel fuel and gasoline.
