July of this year was a real test for the farmers of the Altai Territory.
High air temperature in conjunction with the scorching sun does not have the most favorable effect on the yield in certain areas of the region, especially in those located in the steppe area.
It is known that in May 2019 only one fifth of the monthly rainfall fell on the territory of these areas. And the middle of summer in the Altai open spaces is completely dominated by drought. All this affects the maturation of cereals and other crops and can lead to both partial and complete loss of productivity.
Today the government of the Altai Territory is trying to find ways to solve the problem and intends to introduce an emergency regime on the territory of those regions of the region that are located in the steppe. Thus, emergency conditions can be established in the open spaces of the Uglovsky, Klyuchevsky and Mikhailovsky districts.
At the moment, experts from the Russian Agricultural Center are assessing the state of Altai crops. Once the assessment process is completed, authorized specialists will make the final decision regarding the introduction of an emergency regime in the region.
