According to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Stavropol Territory, today the region’s share in the total provision of the Russian Federation with sheep’s wool is nine percent.
This indicator puts Stavropol Territory in third place in the national rating. A few days ago in the region was launched the mass shearing of sheep.
Shearers of the region intend to receive, following the campaign results, to obtain wool from a livestock of one hundred sixty seven thousand individuals. It is known that by the beginning of this week, more than seventy-eight thousand animals were sheared.
On average, they get about three and a half kilograms of wool from one sheared sheep (the employees of the farms of Apanasenkovsky district demonstrate the maximum wool production - they manage to get about four and a half kilograms of product from an average sheep).
The approximate volume of wool was more than two hundred seventy-three tons. In total, the Stavropol Territory intends to receive about five and a half thousand tons of wool. Of these, the proportion of fine-fleece product and semi-fine-fleece product will be a little more than four thousand tons.
