During the monitoring conducted by the Infoindustry news agency, it was revealed that a large number of Ukrainian farmers complain about the damage of soybean crops by a spider mite.
Many agricultural producers of the country shared their observations on the harmful effects of spider mites on crops.
Interviewees note that in the current weather conditions, which are characterized by high air temperature and low air humidity, this pest causes the greatest damage and does not have any barriers to further spread.
According to farmers, if the crops are not timely processed, the crop yield due to the tick will decrease to 15-20%. Currently, agricultural producers are combating spider mites using insecticidal and insect-acaricidal agents.
For information, the spider mite is the main pest of soy, which can significantly reduce the yield. It is most harmful in hot and dry weather, when adults and young individuals feed on leaf juice.
The economic threshold for the harmfulness of this tick in soybeans occurs already at 10-12 insects per hundred leaves. The tick is very fertile and during the growing season gives up to 12 generations.
