The State Fisheries Agency together with the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine have developed the first project on leasing the Black Sea for mariculture purposes.
Now the project is being approved by the Center. About this on his page on the social network Facebook said Yaroslav Belov, chairman of the State Fishery Agency of Ukraine.
According to him, the pilot project will enable the business entity to lease the Black Sea inland waters for growing mussels.
“Today this is a real line of business that can ensure the supply of valuable and relatively affordable products to the domestic market,” Belov said. “I hope that after the successful start of the project, there will be more people wishing to start their business in this direction and there will be mariculture development in Ukraine.”
For information, mariculture (marine culture) is the direction of aquaculture, which consists in breeding or rearing the inhabitants of the sea - fish, shellfish, crustaceans, algae and echinoderms in the waters of the seas, estuaries, estuaries or in an artificial environment.
People are engaged in the cultivation of marine organisms mainly in the marginal seas. Now in the coastal zone of China, Japan, Korea, the Philippines, Indonesia and other countries, different species of fish and shellfish are raised: flounder, yellowtail, sea pike perch, oysters, mussels, scallops, etc.
Algae - porphyry, seaweed, etc. are cultivated on an industrial scale.
