In the northern region of Ukraine, enthusiastic farmers from the city of Oster of the Kozeletsky district of the Chernihiv region engaged in experimental grape growing. With the help of an unusual culture for the region, they strive to develop tourism.
Chernihiv farmers are experimenting and looking for varieties that are best adapted to the climatic characteristics of the northern part of the country, says agricultural director Artyom Sevastyan.
Farmers understand that their venture is risky, since the climate of the Chernihiv region is not entirely suitable for growing grapes. But the more experienced growers who help them with advice are optimistic.
So, winegrower Leonid Yushchenko believes that given the climate warming, we can safely begin to cultivate this crop. The most important thing is to believe in success and have no doubt that grapes can be grown in the Chernihiv region.
According to farmers, the first harvest from the vineyards can only be obtained in five years, but they are not only interested in profit.
According to Artyom Sevastyan, farmers who grow grapes will glorify the Chernihiv region and their city of Oster, developing green tourism. And this will be a huge plus for everyone, I'm sure an enthusiast.
