The agricultural production cooperative Voskhod, which is located in the Akhtynsky district of Dagestan, is preparing for a large-scale project.

The fact is that the administration of the Akhtyn municipality decided to revive the mass number of livestock of sheep belonging to the Lezgin breed.

Sheep of this breed are recognized as the most hardy and adapted to the specific conditions of the mountains of Southern Dagestan. This type of animal was bred in the last century. The selection process lasted several years, and as a result, the developers managed to breed animals of a combined type of productivity. In other words, Lezgi sheep can be called excellent "suppliers" of both meat and milk, and high-quality wool.

The first information about Lezgi sheep appeared on the hearing in 1912 - it was then that this breed was presented to a wide audience as part of the All-Russian Sheep Breeding Exhibition.

It is noteworthy that representatives of the Lezgin breed are bred not only in farms of Dagestan, but also in areas of neighboring Azerbaijan bordering the republic. All over the world, the meat of sheep and rams of the Lezgi breed is marked by the highest praise of experts who value the product both for its original taste and quality.
