Cherkasy region began to harvest wheat. But not in full, since its maturation is uneven. Weather conditions made adjustments, as reported by the first vice-president of the Association of Farmers and Private Land Owners of Ukraine, chairman of the Cherkasy AFZ Viktor Goncharenko.
According to him, part of the crops were burned by abnormal heat. Therefore, many companies have postponed the collection of wheat. Farmers expect ripening in all areas to start harvesting.
“It is too early to talk about yield indicators. According to farmers who have already begun harvesting, the crop is much lower than last year. They say that on average it is 3-4.5 t / ha, ”Viktor Goncharenko said. Last year, productivity indicators reached 5-7 t / ha.
Cherkasy region does not expect high wheat crops. Although locally, where the "smart" rains took place, good yields of both legumes and oilseeds are predicted. In a number of regions where there was no rain for more than a month, corn and soybean crops were in a critical situation.
According to the department of agro-industrial development of the Cherkasy Regional State Administration, the harvesting campaign in the region started on the same days as last year. The area of harvesting winter crops is 205 thousand ha.
“In general, under favorable weather conditions, we expect to collect 4.2 million tons of grain and leguminous crops,” they predict in the Department of Agricultural Development of the Cherkasy Regional State Administration.
