Kharkov agrarians harvest a much smaller crop than expected. In addition, farms received less quality wheat than expected due to defeat by Septoria and Fusarium.
This was explained by the manager of Ocean Invest Alexander Gorobets during the AgroExpedition Wheat 2019.
“As shown for the third year in a row, spring is pretty cool, rainy. The plant is still in the process of vegetation: top is summer or spring, and bottom is winter. Therefore, the harvest in the Kharkov region is not quite what we wanted, ”he said.
Moreover, Alexander Gorobets added that during 2018-2019. there was a relatively mild winter, which contributed to the spread of snow mold in the crops. This entailed an additional third fungicidal treatment, while Kharkov region agrarians usually cost, as a rule, protectants and double application of fungicides.
“Infection was seen to a greater extent in those farms that sowed grain. The temperature regime contributed to the spread of the pathogen, so in these farms had to carry out unplanned treatment with fungicides, ”said the expert.
He also added that those who carried out the treatment before flowering winter wheat received healthy plants.
