The cost of Russian-made red fish in domestic wholesale markets this month fell by almost a third, if we compare the current price situation with February 2018.

Analysts attribute this cost reduction to high volumes of salmon fish catch last year. The number of red breeds caught in 2018 is called a record, in connection with which the prices for this fish in the markets should be reduced. Otherwise, there will be too many unclaimed products with expiring dates in storage.

Russian retailers intend in the near future to sell off all stocks of pink salmon and other types of red fish, for which they are actively reducing prices for this product.

A kilogram of frozen pink salmon today can be bought for 130 rubles (almost 33% lower than a year ago). And for a chum salmon of the same mass, Russians today pay less than 235 rubles, while a year ago the cost of this fish was 13% higher.

Salmon caviar has also fallen in price. Today it is sold at a price of 2-2.3 thousand rubles per kilo, although a year ago its value in the market was estimated at 30% higher than the current one.
