Animal rights activists in the Netherlands put farmers at risk of arson and sabotage if farmers continue their demonstrations.
The Dutch Farmers Association (LTO) and the Agractie Farmers Initiative, which organized nationwide demonstrations against agricultural policies late last year, received threatening letters from extremist networks.
According to the Dutch trading media, according to the letter, every farm in the country should become an object of sabotage and arson if the farmers continue their protests.
The threatening letter criticizes recent protests by peasants in the Netherlands as “terrorist”. Farmers are also accused of arrogance, denial and unwillingness to submit to the country's government.
The Netherlands is a world leader in agricultural exports along with China, Germany and the United States. The country ranks first in the world in the export of bulbs, seeds, living plants and seeds.
The letters are usually signed with abbreviations, which, according to the recipients, may represent networks of animal welfare activists, including Meat of the Victims, Uprising of the Extinction, and Dierenbevrijdingsfront.
The first of these organizations, however, has already distanced itself on its Facebook page from having anything to do with the threatening email. They basically reject violence, as they say. The Dutch police set about investigating this case.
